The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (the "CBRT") published the "Press Announcement on the Increase of the Transaction Amount Limit in the FAST System", numbered 2026-36 and dated 24 August 2026. Pursuant to the announcement, the transaction amount limits applied in the FAST ("Fonların Anlık ve Sürekli Transferi", Instant and Continuous Transfer of Funds) system have been increased with effect from 26 August 2026.
Accordingly;
(i) the transaction amount limit for money transfers and the Payment Request (Ödeme İsteği) layer service has been raised from TRY 100,000 to TRY 300,000; and
(ii) the transaction amount limit for merchant payments made through dynamically verified TR QR Code has been raised from TRY 250,000 to TRY 300,000.
The FAST system, which went live on 8 January 2021, enables payments to be completed within seconds on a 24/7 basis. The announcement states that the increase was made in view of users’ interest in the FAST system and the dynamic requirements of the payments ecosystem.
It can be said that the increase may further support the use of FAST as an alternative to cash and card payments in higher-value money transfers and merchant payments, and that, for banks and for payment and electronic money institutions participating in FAST, it may raise the share of TR QR Code acceptance and instant payment flows within overall transaction volumes.
The new limits apply as of 26 August 2026, and the full text of the announcement is available on the CBRT’s website.
